When it comes to carports can be rather daunting and overwhelming with all the different options that are available to you, but in these current economic times many people are simply not able to buy a traditional garage or even a more elaborate and expensive attached carport model and they may want something simple like a free standing carport.

The good news is, that this particular type of carport model is the most common and those who most affordable option amongst the different type of carport designs that are available to you.

One option is to go with some kind of metal free standing carport, this will usually come in the form of either a traditional galvanized steel carport, or you can get them in a much lighter weight and typically more affordable aluminium carport models as well. One of the primary benefits to going with a free standing steel carport is the fact that this particular type of metal tends to be much more durable specially in harsh weather climates and environments. However, these particular types of carport and be a bit more expensive, so if you’re still looking to get the benefits of metal then aluminium will probably be more than sufficient, especially in climates that are written more forgiving.

Another option is to go with a free standing carport model that may be made of different materials other than metal such as a plastic carport, or a brick carport. Brick carports are fantastic for blending in with a house that’s made of similar materials and can give you the function of a carport without taking away the aesthetics of the home, while a plastic carport is a practical option for those of you who wish to save money or may want to take their carport with them, as plastic models tend to be much more portable than other models.
