Introducing Patio Umbrella Lights

One of the coolest things that you can do to spruce up your patio other than installing solar lights is to install patio umbrella lights on your patio umbrella.  Many people enjoy sitting outside under their patio covers in the evening and find themselves wanting just a little bit of subtle lighting.  Patio umbrella lights are the perfect solution to this problem.

There are several varieties of patio umbrella lights to choose from.  One very popular model is for the type of patio umbrella that goes through your outdoor table and rests in a base on the ground.  This is probably the most common type of patio umbrella in use today.  In many cases the umbrella itself blocks the light from your outdoor light fixtures so if you want to sit at the table you have to sit in the dark.

This type of patio umbrella light has a hinge so that it opens to make it possible to place it around the pole of the patio umbrella.  It often has several light bulbs in this patio umbrella light fixture to produce enough light to be usable by the people sitting at the table.  These patio umbrella lights are almost all battery powered.  Some of them use LED bulbs which makes them quite efficient so they use very little battery power.

Another type of patio umbrella light mounts at the top of the umbrella shaft so that the light actually shines down on the table. Again, these patio umbrella lights are battery powered and often use LED light bulbs to conserve energy and make the batteries last longer.

If you have the choice when buying a patio umbrella light to buy one with an LED light buld, you should always go with the LED version.  LED light bulbs are much better than they were in the past and produce quite a bit  of light.  Your batteries will last considerably longer if you use LED light bulbs vs. incandescent or other types of light bulbs.
