Patio Umbrella Lights: Enhance the Mood of Your Deck or Yard

To expand your living area and enrich your entertainment options, look to your deck or patio for inspiration. Almost any area outside the back door can be turned into an inviting place for your family and friends to congregate and relax.

Lights designed to illuminate the deck can be purchased in a variety of styles to meet every need. There are several different kinds of lights that are designed to attach to patio umbrellas including the popular rope lights that are meant to attach to the ribs of the umbrella and give enough light for reading and entertaining.

These light strings stay attached, whether the umbrella is open, closed or in storage for the winter. They feature LED bulbs that do not attract bugs, as regular lights will do.

Some light strings are battery operated if you do not have electricity available to the area, but the handy ones are electrically powered and also have a power pod attached so that you have convenient plugs at your table for radios, cookware, or a coffee pot.

There are solar powered lights designed for attachment to an outdoor umbrella, in addition to a rechargeable light as well. Some are designed to deliver a more powerful light, while others give just enough to create a mood.

Another new trend in patio enhancement is the installation of patio covers. Some are constructed just like a roof and need to be built to your local housing code.

Others are open and enhanced with cloth coverings or vines trained to fill in the open areas. These patio shades can provide valuable protection from the elements, in addition to supplying a place to install lighting and lending to the ambiance of the area.

Whether you intend to entertain all summer or just use your deck for the quiet enjoyment of you and your family, a covering over your patio will shade you from sun and elements and provide you additional satisfaction. Lighting, when chosen carefully, will allow you to continue your fun long after the sun has set. With so many options available, the umbrella lighting is still the favorite for setting the mood during an evening outside.
