Using solar pool covers offers homeowners many advantages, from keeping their pool cleaner to saving money. Keeping a pool warm and clean can be a daunting task at certain times of the year. Heating pools during the winter months can really rack up energy costs. Regular pool covers will trap heat, but solar pool covers collect heat from the sun and transfer the energy to the pool water. Solar pool covers are also called bubble covers and they are a less expensive alternative to insulated vinyl covers.

Besides reducing the energy bill, solar covers offer several additional benefits. They conserve water evaporation by about 30% and help to maintain the water’s chemical composition. This winter season has brought with it some of the most devastating storms on record, particularly in the Northeast.  It has been a long winter of bitter cold and falling snow.  If you are like me, you are probably chomping at the bit waiting for the first nice sunny day.  I personally cannot wait to ditch my winter boots and wool hat for flip flops and a t-shirt.  There is one other thing that has got me fired up for nice weather and that is of course, pool season.

With warm weather looming why not get a head start on everyone else with a solar pool cover to heat your swimming pool.  A solar cover for your pool allows you to open up your pool that much earlier than everyone else.  It works by trapping the heat your pool collects from the sun and thus keeps your pool warm. There is nothing better than swimming in your very own swimming pool on a hot summer day. However, there is something to be said about swimming in your pool on a hot summer day when the water is freezing cold; it stinks. Most homeowners like their swimming pool to be at least somewhat inviting to them. They like to have their pool nice and warm before they go diving in.

Sometimes when a pool is too cold it’s because the sun cannot get to it. Maybe your pool is blocked by trees or even your house. It could also be because your just having a bad summer weather wise.
